Sonia Gandhi visit Andman-Nicobar Islands

Advani, BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, said he would not evaluate the performance of the UPA government in the last five years because it coule trigger controversy.With Lok Sabha polls round the corner, he hoped for "good results" in the electoral battle."We all will fight for it...I hope it will be a good fight and its result will also be good," he said.

The electoral battle which has begun and each political party is making hectic efforts to call its workers meet to infuse a sense of challenge to garner vote for their candidates.Newspapers and electronic channels are busy havinghost of advertisement page spread and visuals enacted to refelect the state and country"s progress .

Last Session of the 14th Lok Sabha came to
an end on Thursday with the House adjourning sine-die. Tenures of fouteenth LS finds 258 legislations including the land mark Right to information and National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme were enacted during its 332 sittings.

Speaker Mr. Somnath Chatterjee in his concluding speech referred to the two memorable occasions of celebrating the 150th anniversary of the country's 1st War of Independence and 60th year of Independence in the Central Hall of Parliament. Mr. Chatterjee regretted that the Women's Reservation Bill had not been passed during his tenure. He said the bill would have gone a long way towards effective empowerment of women. He was however hopeful that all political parties will reach unanimity for a clear consensus on the issue in the next Lok Sabha.

With few days left for the election code of conduct ,President of Congress and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today Friday to visit the Andman and Nicobar Islands to unveil a statue of Rajiv Gandhi. She is to address a public rally.Gandhi will arrive in Port Blair on Friday by a special flight and will inaugurate the statue of the former prime minister at Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex.She will also address a public meeting at Netaji Stadium, A K Ganeshan, Spokesman of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands said in Port Blair

Gandhi, would visit Car Nicobar and Cambell Bay on 28th February and at Cambell Bay she is scheduled to unveil the statue of former prime minister Indira Gandhi at Indira point.Prior to this, Gandhi will handover the keys of permanent shelter to tsunami affected persons at a function near airport in Car Nicobar on the same morning
