Gurudas Kamat quits-Jena, is sulking

PM said today's Council of Ministers' resuffle is last before the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 but two slots have been kept vacant for DMK as part of "coalition dharma".Jairam Ramesh promoted to Rural Development in the Cabinet shifted from the Environment Ministry and Veerappa Moily gets Corporate Affairs from Law in a reshuffle of the Union Cabinet today which was marred by the resignation of Gurudas Kamat who quit within hours of being elevated as Minister of State. Congress leader Gurudas Kamat,five-time MP from Mumbai,has resigned from the union cabinet,did not participate in the swearing-in ceremony,pre-shuffle,Minister of State for Home and Communication and IT, was offered MoS with Independent Charge of newly-created portfolio of Drinking Water and Sanitation. "The reasons are totally personal and not any defiance of the party leadership as is being made out in certain sections of the media." Kamat said has the highest respect, regard for Gandhi;Prime Minister.He would continue to be a committed Congress worker. "I have thanked both of them for the opportunity given to serve in the Union ministry in the last two years," Senior Cong leader from Orissa Srikant Jena, is too sulking for not being given a cabinet berth in UPA-II, was elevated as a Minister with Independent charge of Statistics and Programme Implementation. DMK Prez M Karunanidhi today said he has not sought any replacement in Cabinet reshuffle for the party in the wake of resignations of A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran.
