Rain and storm kill 75 in UP -Bihar

Severe dust storm and rain claim 50 lives in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Uttar Pradesh, at least 40 people have been killed in the accidents related to squall and dust storm that hit at least a dozen districts. Light to heavy rain has also lashed these districts. Media reports from Gorakhpur said that high velocity dust storm continued for third consecutive day in the eastern district paralyzing normal live. Trees, electric and telephone poles were up rooted snapping the electricity and communication in these districts. Two people died in Azamgarh whereas more than ten people were injured in Ambedkar Nagar as a tree fell on them. The met office has predicted squall in most of the eastern and central districts during next 48 hours. Dust and thunder storm claim 73 lives in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and Temperatures dip following rain in most parts of North India.While 47 people were killed in Uttar Pradesh, 26 persons died in Bihar. Temperature dipped into the comfort zone following rain in most parts of North India. In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll in yesterday’s cyclonic storm has risen to 47. The high velocity wind at a speed of over 100 Kms per hour has damaged the mango crop on a large scale. AIR correspondent reports that electric supply has been badly affected in the state due to squall . The normal life in the districts of central UP has come to a grinding halt as high velocity wind has destructed properties on a large scale. Hardoi, Shahjehanpr, Lakhimpur Kheri and adjoining areas have been badly hit by the cyclonic storm. The administration has provided one lakh rupees each to the kins of those killed in cyclonic storm. The damage assessment is also being done by the administration. Bihar, the death toll in rain and thunder storm related incidents has gone up to 26. Most of the casualties have been reported from Bhagalpur, Patna and Saran districts. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has instructed the affected district administration to assess the damage caused by strong winds. Besides a large number of trees, electric and mobile towers have been uprooted at many places. Thunder storm and rain also lashed the National capital Delhi last night. Uttarakhand, temperatures have dropped across the state following rain, official media correspondent reports that heavy rain accompanied by hailstorms and strong wind damaged village roads, houses, and crops at various places.Media agencies
