Lokpal Bill: Drafting committee likely to meet next week

The newly-constituted joint drafting committee of the Lokpal Bill is likely to meet next week. The convenor of the joint committee and Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily said, the first meeting is tentatively slated for the 16th of this month. The 10-member committee headed by Senior Minister Pranab Mukherjee will get down to preparing the draft of the anti-corruption bill. The draft bill is likely to be ready by June end. Gandhian and Crusader against corruption Anna Hazare has ruled out any changes in the representatives from civil society to the draft committee for the Lok Pal Bill. Talking to mediapersons in new Delhi today, he said that there is no difference among the civil society group on the names of panel. He said complete transparency will be maintained in the working of the draft committee and deliberations in the meeting will be made public. Mr Hazare also said that the first meeting of the draft committee will take place on the 16th of this month. One of the members of drafting committee, Mr Kejariwal had earlier said that, the decision to select the representatives of civil society for the committee was taken unanimously and there is no controversy in it.
