UNICEN  reports on the World Environment Day
Bill Melinda Gates Foundation  organized an event of launching 2 study reports completed by UNICEF. was held on the World Environment Day at Claridges Hotel in New Delhi on 5.06.2019  on the subject of ‘The environment impact of the Swachh Bharat Mission on water, soil and food.’
Sh. Prakash Jawrakar, Minister for Enviornment, Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jal Shakti Minister, Mrs. Yasmeen Ali Haque, UNICEF  -representative India and Sh. Parmeshwar Iyer  were present on this occasion among other dignitaries and Media persons.
Mrs. Yasmeen said that the air pollution is affecting the vulnerable children of the society to great extant. They need safe environment.
Sh. Gajendra Shekhwat,  Jal Shakti Minister said that it is our tradition to protect the environment.  He said that 3 lakh persons die every year due to contamination of water and air pollution in India. The Government will overcome this problem in some months. He said that  crores toiltets have been made in last 5 years in India. This has given health benefits and saved much money which was spent on the consequences of  contamination of water and pollution. He pointed out the vision of Shri Narendra Modi  who is  committed to provide tap water to every house of India.
Sh. Prakash Jawrakar, Minister for Enviornment (i) appreciated the making of new ministry i.e. Jal Shakti Mantralaya.
(ii) He said that the van which moves in colonies to collect garbage plays a slogan Swachh Bhart ka Irada kar  liya hia hamnay.
(iii)  He said industrial waste which was going into Ganga and other rivers  has been stopped from going in the rivers.
(iv)   The reduction in open defecation and reduction in contamination of water and has decreased  risk from illness and diseases. Lakhs of lives have been saved.
(v)    He said that D.P. power has been increased upto 5 times so that the villages may use the lights, fan etc.  
(vi)   He said  during the last 5 years the Govt. has made 1.5 crore houses under PM housing scheme.  6 crore gas connections have been given.  3 crore toilets have been made. 18 crore farmers are getting monetary benefit of Rs. 6,000/- per month and insurance benefits.  35 crore LED bulbs have been distributed.  35 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened.
Then there was a final round of questions and suggestions given by Media persons to expedite the work in effective manner.
