Presidential elections to be held in Chile today

Presidential elections will be held in Chile today. The polls will choose a successor to Michelle Bachelet. Eight candidates are in the fray, with conservative billionaire Sebastian Pinera seen as favourite to return to the post he held from 2010 to 2014.

Socialist contender Alejandro Guillier, a former journalist, is regarded as the most realistic challenger to Mr Pinera.
Today, voters will also elect all 155 members of the lower house and half of the senate. All the newly-elected authorities will begin their terms on 11th March, next year.
