Vigilance Awareness Week

Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from today across the country to promote probity in public life and achieve a corruption free society. The theme of the week this year is - Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating Corruption. 

The observance of week commenced with pledge taking by public servants in the Ministries, Departments, PSUs, Banks and all other Organizations. Addressing media in New Delhi, Central Vigilance Commissioner, K V Chowdary said, during the week, several functions will be organized to create awareness among the people about the corrupt practices as it adversely affects the development of the country.

He said, public will have to take resolve to irradiate the menace by not taking part in corrupt practices. Emphasizing the need to make it a public movement, Mr. Chowdary said, the Commission will visit schools, colleges and industry bodies and other institutions to seek support for creating awareness against the corruptions. 

The Commission has envisaged a concept of Integrity Pledge to enlist the support and commitment of the people and organization for upholding the highest standers of ethical conduct, honesty and integrity. The week is observed every year from 31st October, the birthday Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
