PM to launch programme - 70 Saal Azadi - Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani on Aug 9

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a mega programme- 70 Saal Azadi- Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani - on 9th of this month to celebearte the 70th Independence Day. The programme which will continue till 23rd August, is aimed at rekindling the spirit of patriotism among the people and recalling the scarifies of freedom fighters. Seventy five Union Ministers will visit 650 historically important places across the country including Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab, Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar and Dandi in Gujarat to create patriotic fervour among the youth. 

Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, there are several unknown freedom fighters in different parts of the country who will be brought to the fore through the celebrations. He said the women Ministers will visit the border areas to tie Rakhi to the soldiers.

Mr. Naidu said, several programmes including essay and debate competitions will be organised besides screening of patriotic videos and films at different places. He said, during their visits the ministers will also highlight the good governance and initiatives taken by the NDA government for the poor and marginalised sections of the society. He informed that BJP MPs will undertake Tiranga Yatra between 15th to 22nd August in their areas on bikes along with tricolour.
