Obama Asia Trip Itinerary

US President Barack Obama board Air Force One on his maiden trip to the country, which he says is a chance to honour Mahatma Gandhi's memory, and learn more about modern India. He is on Asia trip visiting India South Korea and Japan. Obaa on boarding said "To those celebrating Diwali in India, I look forward to visiting you over the next few days. Accompanied by First Lady, Michelle, Obama, in fact, himself would be celebrating the festival of lights with school children in Mumbai his first stop on his three-day India trip that would also take him to New Delhi. Those Prominent accompanying the US President would include Tom Donilon, the new National Security Advisor Commerce Secretary, Gary LockeAgriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack and of course, Raj Shah, Administrator of USAID. Shah is the highest-ranking Indian American in the Obama Administration. The Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, would join Obama on the Delhi leg of his trip. Obama plane to stop at Ramstein, Germany for refueling. His scheduled arrival is 12-50 am Saturday in Mumbai where he would stay at the Taj Hotel, which was attacked by Pak-based terrorists in November 2008 that killed more than 160 innocent people including six American nationals. "By staying at the Taj, I am pleased to pay tribute to the resilience of the Indian people, while also underscoring our shared commitment to counter-terrorism," Obama told PTI, an Indian news agency, in an interview early this week. Wednesday, Nov. 10 — Speech in Indonesia; travels to Seoul, South Korea. Obama Visit to South Korea Thursday, Nov. 11 — In Seoul, speaks to U.S. troops for Veterans Day; Opening ceremonies for Group of 20 economic summit. Friday, Nov. 12 — G20 working sessions, news conference; Departs Seoul for Yokohama, Japan. Obama Visit to Japan Saturday, Nov. 13 — Attends meetings for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Yokohama, Japan. Sunday, Nov. 14 — Visits Great Buddha statue before departing Japan and returning to Washington. Obama India trip could alone fetch orders worth USD 12 billion both military and civilian that could result in creating / saving as much as 50,000 to 60,000 jobs in the US. "Theres been a lot of strong interaction behind the scenes. But I think setting the right tone publicly is going to be important and could end up making a difference at the margins in terms of how businesses make investment decisions," Obama said in response to a question.
